Cloud computing gains steam.
There is a lot of buzz around "cloud computing". So you may ask "What is cloud computing?". In the simplest terms it is putting everything up on the Web. I like to think of cloud computing and reference the Application Service Provider model. As with this model all the resources and storage are hosted off-site and the end-users access via a web browser. Unlike the ASP model, cloud computing goes much deeper with applications, meshed data centers and virtual resources all of which are ambiguous to the end-user.
The Internet makes cloud computing possible. The meshed and redundancy of the Internet offers true cost savings. There are lower startup costs with much higher scalability. If cloud computing is designed and implemented correctly there will be no sacrifice in performance. You are billed for cloud resources on a number of scales including; pay-as-you-go, by resource, overall resource usage and contract. Solutions in the cloud also include: VOIP, Managed Services, Remote Support, Collaboration, Video Conferencing, Virtualization, Video Surveillance.
